The quiet hour
A pause in a busy day, told through a reader, a window and a small companion.
The starting thought
An independent illustration for a fictional essay about making room for a quiet moment. The image needs to carry the feeling before the reader reaches the first paragraph.
Inside the composition
The window provides a frame within the frame. The book sits near the centre of the composition, while the warm chair leads the eye back to the reader. A sleeping cat adds a second, slower rhythm.
Thinking about the placement
The generous space around the scene can work beside an article heading. A smaller crop would need a separate composition so the reader, book and cat keep their relationship.
